Definitely get the largest neck reamer as you DO NOT want to neck turn, or have constant carbon ring issues from shooting with a suppressor.

Lucky to have stocked up a few years back. Superformance is not far behind & still available.

I was playing around with different powders (that are actually availble in shops) on GRT this morning, wondering if anyone has tried Ramshot Hunter in their 284? Looks to be pretty good for burn rate/fill with the 162gn projectile seated long-ish, around 102% fill and 100% burn rates...

another one I hadn't thought of but shows promise is CFE 223... though more for lighter projectiles I think

I’ve wondered about other powders like Hybrid 100v and Staball 6.5 which are very similar burn rate to 2209, SPf and RL17 all of which go well in 284

Hybrid 100v and IMR4831 are a bit bulky for the lighter projectiles (162gn and under) in 284W, hit 104% case full before getting near pressure limits. Hybrid 100v might be ok if you are loading them out as long as you can...

Staball 6.5 has a relatively low specific energy in the GRT model, so get good burn and fill rates, but velocities aren't that great. 2670 fps at 98% case full for same pressure as 2209 at 2770 fps...

I'm now committed, rifle is at Gunworks, and I picked up some Lapua brass and a bit of Superformance to get started.

Thank you all for your help.

It's a great powder I used it as a replacement for RL26 in a few calibers

I haven't tried it in the 284 but found 1-2 grains less than RL26 in most calibers.
    Used it in .260,6.5 creedmore.300wsm and .270 as a replacement for 26

    Oh, that sounds pretty nice.

    I'm running 53gr of 2209 with 162gn ELD-M at 2720fps. Cannot remmber if 18 or 20". I think I have some superformance, so might have a play.
