Anyone know if they are going to bring out or have bought out a walnut Blue version of these Tikka's, if not it's going to be an easy choice for me for the next Rimfire.

I think you are on a winner either way between those two.
Yes the wee CZ has some good improvements over the 452 that I like and will be a shoo in if Tikka don't make a wood blue shortly.
I like the look of the Steyr zephyr 2 but it's a heck of a price.
What about Anschutz?
Yes thought about the Anschutz, very nice to have as well, If I go that price range I'm in for the Zephyr though, just for the point of difference.
Very tempted by the Cz 457 lux, man what a looker

Also I'd love another Marlin 39A, why I traded it I'll never..........oops thats right, it morphed into the current CZ 452 American.
The T1X fit standard Tikka T3 centrefire stocks so finding a timber one is easy enough
I use the 16 in barrel as it’s easier around vehicles etc and a longer barrel is unnecessary for velocity
The factory suppressor is excellent but I fitted a DPT with 2 extra baffles because I felt like it :)
I’m nearly at 3000 rounds of subsonic and there’s been no abnormality other than about 1 in 100 shots goes supersonic
Accuracy of the T1X with CCI SV is stunning, am dialling mine a lot to 200 yards on Rabbits and 150 yards on Plovers
It’s shooting 60mm groups at 200yrds in ZERO wind
If your wanting accuracy at 300 yards just remember that 1fps difference at 300 yards = 1/4 inch of vertical
I’m using a G1 BC of .123
This rifle supersedes my 1954 Annie Ultra Match in every way for hunting
As an aside this VX5 has been dialled furiously for well over 2000 shots and it’s still dialling perfectly, probably the hardest I have ever thrashed an elevation turret
Totally happy with the rifle and scope combo

Yep, I love my T1x (also a 16" barrel and DPT can).
Easily sub MOA at 100m with Eley Contact ammo.
Good stuff 7mm, I'm just at the time I'd prefer the Walnut Blue look, 10 maybe 15 years ago I'd be all over an accurate synthetic
Yes Correct Tussock, thanks, I missed that.
@7mmsaum Acknowledged.
1100$ For the TX1 , wonder what a nice wood stock would be worth
Try buy sell section, be $150-250 I would guess?
Being a T3 bedding print there should be some fancy aftermarket ones out there too. Gives you the chance to build it up incrementally.
Damn now I want one again. Looked before and ended up buying a 10/22 deluxe on a whim which shoots WAY better than a 10/22 is supposed to.
Yip there are definitely some fantastic aftermarket stocks for the Tx1 a short google confirms this.
I have too many 22s but a quick google made me realise you can put an extremely fancy piece of walnut on one of these things. Fancier than fancy .22s, and in a real rifle size.
Kids .22,s have their place and always will and long may that last.
But what I like, is proper rifles, not Rimfires made for people born in a throw away era.
.
Why do you want a wooden stock?
I thought I'd miss the wooden stock from my CZ452 when I bought my T1x, but I honestly have never given it a second thought.
I bought the vertical grip from day one and would never go back to the hunter style grip.
I had a small play with a CZ457 at Gillies practical shoot and didn't feel as though I was missing out anything with my T1x.
I always shoot suppressed so went for the 16" barrel which I'd definitely recommend.
@Beetroot
It's great when things suit, good on you
I want a walnut stock and a blued barrel, .. because I do, Thats the way I'm heading these days.
Anyway TJ is doing the Haka, gotta go.
I like the T1x having the same ergonomics of the centerfires, the finishing in some places is not as good as it could be. Have shot mine out to 200m no problems. If your looking for a nice wood blue rifle I would also look at a Sako as another option.
I tried to put a carbon stock on my T1x for shits and gigs but wouldn't fit as the bolt release is in a different place so depending on how they have been inletted might need modifying, wouldn't be a major on a timber stock.
@Fly-My-Pretties. Well they are running 1200 Canadian, hopefully the NZ importer won't be such arses as Beretta NZ and will trim as much as they can. @Cooper, Sakos everywhere mate, would like something equally as respected but with a point of difference.
How about something really special, I have a Browning reproduction of the Winchester Model 52 sporter that I'll be selling soon. Its a full size 22 rifle, all blued steel and walnut (except the ebony tip on the fore-end) and it has the "micro-motion" model 52 trigger ??
yip,
does it shoot?
how heavy?

Shoots well. 3.3kgs with 24" barrel. This was designed as a true "man size" 22 hunting rifle and thats exactly what it is. Smooth as silk, fine checkering, a pleasure to hold and shoot.
It’s funny how Tikka centrefire are meh, but Tikka rimfire are cool.
I own a Tikka centrefire and a CZ rimfire. Guess I’ll never be cool!
Get the CZ, you can put a wooden stock on a T1 but theres nothing "proper rifle" about a plastic bottom metal, plastic magazine, plastic bolt shroud....
Did a quick search, and I see Boyds have about a half a dozen different grades of walnut stock, for both the T1X and the 457, amongst all the other ones they do (laminates of various sorts, and some quite attractive maple which I hadn't noticed)
I found the Anschutz to small and to light, the weihrauch is a better full sized rifle. The steyr Zephyr II I was told will be around the $1800-$1900 point and should be available here anytime soon. Gun city had one back in March in 17hmr I was going to look at but it sold for 2k. second hand. Rim fires should all be walnut/blued and have a 60 deg bolt throw or less . Plastic is for tooth brush holders and kids lunch boxes.

@jakewire this is what you want... https://www.trademe.co.nz/sports/hun...4af72e3943-001
Sako Quad or Finnfire II are the same weight and fit as a full size rifle. My Sako Finnfire II is over 3kg scoped ready to go, not a toy weight pee shooter like some.
Yip
Thanks for the heads up, on the watchlist
A 22LR is a joy to use not because it is ultra practical, but because it is a joy to use. Whatever brings you joy.
Personally I lose my mind over ultra high end Rimfires picture evenings shooting rabbits, where as a centerfire of extreme beauty I think "I will fuck that" and it never leaves the safe.

I have just been through the same decision. The T1x is a great gun. It is accurate, practical, feels like a big rifle and you dont need to be too careful with it. However, i have grown up around the old mans Anschutz 1517 and have always seen a rimfire as something that should be wooden, blued and a bit special. For me the 457 ticks these boxes and is why i ended up with a 457 Varmint in 17hmr. It has a lovely balance, great stock, adjustable trigger and is amazingly accurate. The groups below are with the A17 ammo (which if you read reviews is the fastest, but also least accurate ammo on the market) however the CZ loves it. The groups there are the 3rd - 6th shots through the rifle, so far from the barrel being broken in. These were of course at 100m.
I have thrown a Leupold VX3i 3-10x0 and a Hardy rimfire suppressor on.

My Anschutz has a VX-111 1.5-5x on it, probably my flashest scope at present. Would prefer better light gathering. I would love a Leica, Swaro etc 4x for the .22LR as that extra 15 minutes would be appreciated regularly.
