    Too many questions!!

After having a play with TR's rifle with a muzzle brake I'm now thinking of my set up. I like the reduction in weight and recoil and think it could be a good option for hunting, particularly since I'm a bit knackered body wise. It would be good for the long shots where there is time to set up (including ear protection) but not so good for shorter range snap shots where you don't get the extra time. Not that I've had any experience in either so far, but I'm thinking about it.

    What's everyone's thoughts?

Use for snap shots as well as long as you use ear protection, e.g., electronic muffs which allow you to hear normally but also stop the damaging muzzle blast noise.

Some have it off for spook and shoot then on for long shots. A DPT is hardly going to break the back at a couple of hundred grams though.

Put a radial brake on. Leave it off when you are walking/stalking. Put it on when you have time to set up properly. Sight in with brake off. Any difference at 100 yds or so will be minimal for the occasional animal.
I did this with my 7SAUM and it worked well.

do you mean sight in with brake on? i.e. more likely to shoot longer ranges with the brake on requiring greater accuracy in those instances?

My break which I never use has a huge vertical poi difference opposed to with it off.
More than my suppressor for some reason.

I have 2 spare breaks you can have a play with gadget.

See if you like the idea and then buy one of KGs flash Harry ones.

    Suitable for a magnum?

Damn it. I only bought the rifle for shits and giggles because it was cheap, but man I love shooting the 7mm RM. It would likely be with brake on or suppressor on since I'm too wimpy to use it naked. The conservation of momentum rule and my condition do not lend themselves to the 7mm RM without a little assistance.

Cut a couple of inches off your barrel. Use a slightly faster powder to recover the velocity and stick a DPT or such-like on. Often time you will pick up some of the lost velocity just through adding the muffler.

You minimise some of the recoil (not as good as a break though) and reduce the noise greatly. Its the noise that is damaging.

Yes, and thanks to TR that is about as buggered as the rest of me. Might see if that can be dealt with too when I see the man with the knife on Thursday.

It does currently wear a large Gunworks muffler but it is large and heavy. Don't really want to shorten it if I can avoid it.

Except you have break some of the laws of physics to make this happen, or do what most people do and just push the pressure up.
