I thought so, I did a Google and forum comments over the years are favorable...and at that price while it may be a gamble it could well be a good one.
A hundy is cheap enough, it's sparked an interest

I have one, a TOZ 17, and it is a great little rifle. Cheap, ugly and the equal in accuracy of much more expensive rifles. Built properly out of steel and wood. Designed by the USSR for issue to their fur trappers in Siberia.

I like them.learnt to shoot with one something like 45 years ago and now thanks to generosity of good fellas I have another one. And gifted one on to another chap. I love the open bolt carry with these, being cock on closing it's a good SAFE way to carry while walking.

It's a bit rusty and dirty but very quick clean of the bore shows it's in pretty decent nick. A proper cleanup and it'll do the job fine. Very pleased.
Will be a couple of weeks before I can try it out but will report back on how it goes.
plurry nora!!!! just seen the ammunition you got with it..that Aussie ammo was fantastic stuff on possums...by far the best in my old remington single... wish we could still get it,that blue box winchester and the rabbit ammo are proper ozzie made stuff....gold.

Yeah mate, shot down this morning and picked it up, currently on way home having lunch in Ashvegas.
Looks VERY nice and got some ammo and cleaning gear with it. The guy had owned it for 30yrs and reckons it hasn't been used for 20yrs.

Will chuck a pic up when I get home.

The rifle and everything it came with was EVEN MORE of a bargain as the seller contacted me about 2yrs ago saying he'd found another magazine for it and asked if I wanted it :-) That second mag alone is worth about what I paid for whole rifle, cleaning gear, ammo etc!

possibly a littermate of mine squire.no mine is the earlier model with the external pullback safety pullback bolthead rotate to safety notch in housing end .

MD-wichester dyna point was best ammo i ever found for jackos-out of my original m14 stirling it was bloody wicked causing massive fatal trauma more than once the ol Toz17 was also partial to it! mind you that old russkie is pretty catholic in her tastes in ammo alth some remington ss shit i once got even disgusted her some went supersonic then others flounced up the track like a trannie down the catwlk .even the old jacko only 15m away eventually shrugged his shoulders before ambling off!
