Trouble pulling empty case out of Rossi single shot 357

I’ve just recently bought a second hand single shot Rossi .357. It shoots not too bad and is a good gun for what I am after. But it’s a pain in the Bum to pull the cases out after firing! The wee spring pulls it out a little bit but then I need to use pliers or the back of a knife to be able to pull the empty case out. Has anybody got any idea what this might be? Thanks

Yes, polish the chamber. Could be from previous owner firing .38 specials and not cleaning properly afterwards, leaving a ring of fouling.

also carry a small piece of metal rod with you...the guts of those double ended screwdrivers in the car kit that never get used are ideal...drop it down barrel onto stuck case and it will pop it right out..... put your cleaning brush in cordless drill and polish up that chamber and see how it goes then....

For the same reason, limit (best avoid) shooting 38Spec through 357mag lever actions. Lead projectiles are the worst.

Thanks for the advice everybody. I scrubbed the chamber with solvent and let it sit for a few hours. Then I put a copper brush in the drill and got into it for 10 minutes. It did make it a little bit better but still too hard to pull out with fingers. I’m soaking the chamber in solvent again and will give it another good go with the drill tonight, will see what happens then

I've seen it quite a bit in the Rossi Pomba's in .410, not sure if it was the same problem every time but at least a couple of times it was friction between the ejector and the slot it sits in, you could try looking over the ejector/extractor for burrs on the outside of it, or shiny areas might show where its rubbing on debris or a burr inside the extractor slot.

My mate has the same problem with his 270 and 7mm08 barrels for his rossi wizard, the case is stuck and then the extractor pops over the rim when you open it and you have to knock it out with a cleaning rod. we have cleaned everything, adjusted the extractor to the max, polished the chamber but no luck.
If you can't kill it with bullets, dont f*ck with it.

Wahla! Twenty minutes of copper brush and you'll have a 44 magnum.

Overly vigorous use of a brush on a drill has been known to make extraction worse by creating "micro grooves" that provide extra friction making the case harder to remove.
As to the 270 and 7mm. Rimless cases are always more likely to encounter trouble in a break action due to their rim size.

If it's a Rossi Pomba, I don't think it's inherent in the model. Both mine in 357 and 44 mag were flawless extractors.

Mmmm...I am beginning to see why my Rossi 357 has the same problem...letting the kids fire shit loads of home cast projectiles in .38 special cases....best I pull it out of the safe and have a squize at it.
