With a few exceptions scope tubes are alloy and if you tighten them up enough they will crush. Some mounts will let you get away with a bit of overtightning others will bite you in the arse. I use a W&B torque wrench and use 15 ish inch pounds max but got lazy a whie ago and crushed a vortex diamondback. Verticle split rings are the worst but still my fault. Best thing was I owned up and vortex just repalced the scope totally free, not even charging for freight.
