Ouch. Maybe a lapping bar for the next mount
I think it is a combination of over tightening and soft scope tube,
I think the cantilever mounts were tightened so much that the edges were pulled down and into the scope
maybe its time for a torque wrench......
I have a torque (screwdriver) especially for that type of work. Got it off Sinclairs. Uses hex head fittings, simple bit of kit. Was around $150 USQuote:

this is why optilock rings rule, tigheten them up and no problems at all, rudimentary cantilever mount absolutly roots the scope tube
My Premier got squished and they have mil contracts. I'd say operator error more likely. You can generate a fair bit of force once things start to get leverage.Quote:

With a few exceptions scope tubes are alloy and if you tighten them up enough they will crush. Some mounts will let you get away with a bit of overtightning others will bite you in the arse. I use a W&B torque wrench and use 15 ish inch pounds max but got lazy a whie ago and crushed a vortex diamondback. Verticle split rings are the worst but still my fault. Best thing was I owned up and vortex just repalced the scope totally free, not even charging for freight.
