    Upgrade trigger on Howa 1500?

    Hi Guys

I have a Howa 1500 and I have had the trigger worked by a gunsmith but could still be better. It has a little creep and I would prefer it to be slightly lighter as well. The gunsmith who did the job said unsafe to lighten any more so am looking at a replacemnt.

The only replacemnet I have found is Timney, are they any good and worth the $$ to upgrade?

Is it possible for a non engineer type to replace or is this a job for the Gun Smith?

Like a few other rifle issues this is more apparent on the range rather than the bush, range time gives confidence though!

    Any suggestions.

    Cheers

Timney's all good. Don't buy it locally. You just need a screw driver.

    Timneys are delicious!

My Vanguard (rebadged Howa) had probably the worst trigger I have ever felt (literally it clicked 3 times before actually breaking!!!!) so I put a timney on it, 1 screw and about 3 minutes, and it now has a creep free glass rod that breaks at 2.5lbs.

I can adjust it lighter but I prefer it like it is.

I just ordered mne from outdoor suppliers, about $250 if I remember correctly but that was a few years ago.

Dropped a timney in to the howa...wow.

Way better now, no creep and nice and crisp, safety also improved markedly as the old unit was gritty in the safety and had some creep couldnt adjust out....thumbs up!

Off to the range tomorrow, will see if it helps the groups any

    Cheers

I contacted the Howa distributor over here some time ago to see if the HAC trigger was available as an upgrade. Will follow up if there is any interest from NZHS Forum members.

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
