    Final option to consider is fitting a Howa HACT trigger. Really good and adjustable . As long as you like two stage triggers.

    Problem is there is a difference between the receivers of the old Weatherby Vanguard and the newer Howa's that use the HACT trigger. The V cut into the receiver is a different size and the trigger pack screw hole is slightly out between the two. I found this out by attempting the above.

    That is interesting. I had swapped a gunsmith tuned 1500 trigger into a Vanguard once. I don't recall it being an issue. It may have been the later "II" model.

    They're real close but not quite. I guess Howa made a change somewhere along the line. Mate recently purchased an MDT Howa chassis, for his older Vanguard and found a similar issue. He had to dremel the crap out of the trigger pocket for his action to fit with the trigger fitted, as it sit too far back.
