    Weaver 'scope?

I've ordered one of these Weaver 1.5-4.5 'scopes. Has anyone got one or tried one? I would be interested in any comments.

On Sika I'm seldom above 3 power and have a habit of staying out in the gloom. I can't see the reticle like I used to, so thought I would try this. Going on a Mod 7 7/08

Weaver 1.5-4.5X24 Classic Extreme Riflescope Ill. German #4 Reticle Matte - Natchez Shooters Supplies

(Click on the 'scope or reticle pic for an enlarged view) The out of stock notice has gone on since I ordered mine.

    Cheers

I Had a weaver classic 3-9x38(i think. it was a weird size big end) this was a budget scope i think i payed 450 for it about 5 years ago retail.
First one fogged up internally in just over a year. It was replaced not repaired promptly.
Scope no2 fogged internally in just under a year. It was replaced not repaired promptly.
Scope no3 fogged internally the first time I went out in the rain. It was replaced not repaired and rather than give it a fourth chance got the shop to put it on there shelf and give me 450 off a Leupold.
Leupold has been fine so far(touch wood)

I am sure I had a shit batch of em as everyone seems to rate the better grandslams etc

It allways seems to be raining when I get a green card to go for a hunt

Cheers. I think these Extremes are in a different league to the Classics. Time will tell.
You are right though, one thing about Leupold is that they do seem to stay tight.

from experience Weaver just arent the same quality as that of leupold and burris.... having compared a vx 3 and a signature select burris to a v 16 on a bunny busting mission the first week of the new year from dawn till dusk, weavers aren't of the same quality, their the gap that bridges the nikko sterlings to the burris's and leupold... personally i wouldn't buy one and go for one of the other two mentioned handsdown. also be carefull if your looking at minox's,ive heard a few problems about them

Weaver V series are budget scopes (they do cheaper ones)... I have had a great run with the Grandslam scopes, good bright optics. Would not pay shop price in NZ for them though

Classic extreame is a step up again

Thanks for the vindication. I have been waiting for someone to say what I think

But the proof will be in how it holds together.

    Price is good.

If reticles in the gloom are an issue, have you looked at the Trijicons?
Not in the same price range, but unbelievable glass and a bright glowie bit in the middle

I can't comment on the scope in mention - but I had an amazing run out of a Weaver Grand Slam and now am having no issues with the Weaver Super Slam's I have.

Like Leathal - I couldn't justify buying the locally in NZD price wise. I landed my Super Slam for under $550 - H&F retail is something like $1350-1500 or there abouts.

I haven't had a problem with my Grandslams. They track very well and when set seem to be immovable.
Just my experience, all up I've owned 4 that were used on rifles, one I sold with a rifle two I sold seperately when trading rifles, one I have on the 308 and now another one sitting brand new in the box for whatever.
I'm sure you'll have no trouble with yours Tahr
