Thread: Wood restore person in Christchurch

Hi ,just wondered if anyone had a contact that could help restore dimples in the wood stock of my rifle in the Christchurch area

hot water/steam is USUALLY the method used... you could try placing effected area above boiling kettle and see if it will raise them out enough to be sanded back n refinished....

remove all wood oil, wet tea towel and clothes iron plus allot of patience. post some pictures of the wood

Yup what they said. Warm water, steam and heat

You will have to fully refinish the wood after steaming as it will ruin your finish best to remove the finish before steaming anyway

As muzza said check you tube.
Not that hard just time consuming.
Dents will come out missing wood from gouges will not.
Remove original finish keeping clear of chequering.
I have used piece of glass as a scraper successfully on factory finish.
Steam then sand lightly, take your time.
Refinish quite satisfying.

Cotton cloth and a steam iron is what I use for steaming dents out of timber. Only once made the mistake of using microfleece when in a hurry

It did, took ages to get the iron clean enough to use again. Luckily its a dedicated workshop one not the wife's best iron (although can't remember the last time we used it)
