That must have been one of the rare selective fire models, as you found out it was not a resounding sucess.
I repeat: calm down bro - there is no attack in what I said.
Balanced view in this thread isn't required: by it's very nature if a large number of people think the 10/22 is the worst they have had, it will be unbalanced.
Calm down - go hunt or shoot something; not everyone on the internet is going to tell you what you want to hear.
Mine had a backwards barrel. About 2 inches in front of the chamber it tightened up to about .20 to .21 then about an inch later went out to .23. (clearly made last thing friday evening before knock off). It meant that the bullet was swaged down just after leaving the chamber and barely touched the rifling after that. Made it a 3" barrel with a 12 inch solid steel flash suppressor / front weight. Had they turned the barrel around and chambered the other end the barrel would have tightened up at the muzzle and possibly been a real tack driver.....
:D :D
After reading this thread I am:
1) sad - I really liked my 10/22 (ss with hogue stock) reliable and did what I needed it to and now I feel like I shouldnt have.
2) Happy - everything I missed was due to the 10/22. All this time I just thought I was a shit shot (It was still probably me).
Whilst I only temporarily looked after the rifle and did not as such own it, the worst rifle I had in my possession was a Remington Viper .22 semi auto. Ergonomics of the stock were fine. And that is where its positive features ended.
Yeah I remember the Remington Viper with it's moulded synthetic receiver, looked pretty good. NZ Guns magazine did a review of it...not very accurate and a jam-o-matic.
Disappeared off the market within a year. Probably be a collectors item in a hundred years time...or not.
.22 annie semiauto, not sure its the worst but most disappointing . . . bought at a crazy cheap price, should have been a warning there but really wanted one, they look great, point great . . but poor accuracy wise. Went on the www to see how to fix it and realised i should have looked before i bought it . . . the rifle is made by an Italian shotgun maker and there is no fix, just a crap design, first and last anschutz.
and a 10/22 that i had for 2 days before i took it back for a refund . . didnt think much of the design or quality or the accuracy, which was a surprise, my workmates ruger was a tack driver.
i've gone over to Sako Quads for hunting and LR target rimfire shooting . . . happy with those . . but hear what ya sayin
model 520 . . . thats the one, shamefull that anschutz put their name on it
Norinco 1897 Winchester Clone. The bolt carrier broke within the first three shots.
H&R pardner pump, jammed all the time constant failure to feed.
Mate that's a shame and goes to show how not only how some models suck but just some individual rifles. I had a H&R pardner pump 12g and it was bloody awesome for the money.
Got it for $250 from memory and did about 1000 - 1200 rounds, never jammed. Got better the more it got used, was an excellent workhorse.
