    Tough decision depending on where and what I'm hunting. The Ruger 270win with vx1 3-9 which I've had for around 25 years comes out for reds and tahr. The Weatherby 223 is seeing the outdoors quite often with fallow and wallabies in the area.
    Both shoot well.

    16" tikka 308 with stug carbon stock is my most used for bush hobbiting but has also shot my biggest bull tahr with it at +400m... open tops is my 20" tikka 284win.

    Model 7 stainless in .223, brought it off a forum member (Kelton I think?) has accounted for a fair number of animals now and got me into reloading.     Ruger americans use the same system. When truflite fitted my barrel they did away with the nut.
