Cheers. Unlikely mate. Just very busy these days shuffling a full time job and trying to farm and raise a family at the same time
Thanks mate. Probably something like that...different trip but not that it matters haha
The 12/13 was 38 long, 37 wide. I picked him to be six year old, probably in his prime, but could have got better with age. About as big as they seem to get in this particular area. I chose not to shoot him, so Scott thought he would to put him on the wall! Could have shot him from our tent in the morning, but Scott missed him....we eventually caught up with him again a couple of valleys over that evening. When he dropped he rolled off a ledge and snapped both antlers off!
The old stag on the coast, cool old character stag. Looks to have a bit of Stokes Park in him, yes. He was holding 7 hinds away up high but coming down into the bush in the night to roar above camp. Had to climb high to find some of those older stags, but the views are worth it. Saw a ripper 11 pointer, be well into the 40's wide and long, he only appeared for 20 seconds before disappearing again. He never made a peep!
Between us we've got quite the range. Macpac, Hilleberg, MSR, Marmot, plus an array of cheaper ones. In the bush photo that's a Hilleberg and a cheap Intents one - which is actually quite a good little tent for the money.
As you know mate, you are welcome anytime and be happy to take you to a few old haunts.
Cheers man. We try, hard juggling everything and all getting time off to hunt together. But it's always worth the effort. Always rewarding heading into spots you know get hunted a lot and still seeing a number of decent animals. Didn't even get into my usual favorite spots this roar, too many hunters about made me nervous. I'll save them till winter.
