Yes, the chimney is glowing red, which might be why the floor got melted, even with the fire proof mat. I've since added some longer legs, I'm not sure if they were red hot too or if they were reflecting the glow from the firebox.

I was not cold

I’m going to build a hearth to go under mine. Plywood and tiles. Like you say, not lightweight, but you drive there anyway.

Sat in that spot on Sunday on a walk out. We thought then it would be a great place to park for a few days!
