Awesome write up Dougie ,those pics of the alps look all too familiar but thank you. The learning curve can seem a little steep some times but the positives you've gained are worth the effort.

That was a good story. Credit where its due. I didn't like all the testosterone fueled hoopla bullshit in the making of the rifle, nor some of the comments of the same ilk here, but thats just me. You have done well.

You need binos. I will leave a pair of Minox BV at my back door for when you return the case. Return them when you have a pair of your own. No hurry.

I would do the same for anyone in the same circumstances.

You weren't far from some really good chamois country. Bealey spur has produced the odd nice cham in the past. Love the write up.
If you are ever back in canterbury looking for a cham, i can set you on a couple places that seem to produce them consistently.
    Keep it up!!!!

Fantastic story Dougie, it was a real pleasure to read. You will learn something on every hunt you go on, then one day deer will just start appearing more and more as everything you have learnt starts falling into place.

Minus the odd time when you can't even find a damn hoofprint to keep your hopes up!
