I always enjoy your reports , would be cool to see one where the 30-30 gets a run around.

That was a great story and pics, have thought of that type of hunt to but me eyes aren't like they were and open sights are hard to use. Really enjoyed that read well done.

I’m in the process of getting a peep sight fitted to my 44 lever action to go old school up close and personal with some deer.

What rear sight is that? I've just fitted a Lyman 66 to mine.

Wild West guns Alaska sight. Don’t think they’re made anymore. Extremely robust and well protected peep.
When I fitted a 66 to my other win 94, I replaced the front sight, to a taller one with a white bead.

Fallow don't like 30-30's. Neither do goats, reds or pigs actually!
The bullet went thru a tree before killing this spiker.

Yep @kiwijames , KK is James. Would recommend going over the top for sure, i think that valley would be epic roar or spring hunting if you were ok with covering a bit of ground

Amazing country for sure - not too much in the way of good heads coming out of that part of the Ruahines; but it's a fantastic area to test the legs and fortitude.

    Nice.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
