I'd be keen to give that a go, every thing I've ever heard about eel is you smoke it and bugger all else. Had it smoked for the first time ever a couple of weekends ago, smoked with Kanuka chips and tasted pretty bloody good! Luckily the mate who prepped it had a 40L bucket of salt to take care of the slime issue, pretty strange fish the old eel!

Not sure of its food consumption or animal rights problems but surf laundry powder strips the slime of real quick, don't need much either
