Thanks mate. My mates give me grief for always having a bloody camera in my hands when hunting. But they'll happily take a copy when we get back home! Haha.
That's good mate. I enjoy writing. To be honest I don't really have many here. Down at the family farm I've hung all my earlier stags I shot as a kid/teenager and anything mediocre I've shot in recent years in the shed. Plus anything I've shot on private land in recent years goes down there. There's a couple walls of antlers in Dad's big shed. Neat talking point for visitors.
I've been reasonably selective over the last 8-10 years and usually only shoot one or maybe two stags worth bringing out a year. A couple of years I have shot nothing...9/10 times by choice. Smaller stags I shoot at work/cull out of forestry blocks usually I leave the heads on the hill, or give them to friend/kids etc.
At home here, I only have the stag heads I've shot on public land, and have maybe 8-10 of the bigger ones in my shed, workshop and in the house. And in the last 3-4 years when I've shot nice stag with a mate, I've sent the antlers home with them. Most have less experience than myself.
Haha, thanks Sideshow. Yep, it's hard to write about the adventures of a trip, the report would end up being three times longer. I have a lot of people suggesting that I should maybe write a book, one day I might find the time to scratch something together. In the meantime, I'll keep doing this, keep my photos sorted, and keep sending the odd yarn to the magazines and see what comes of it. Only do it because I enjoy it.
