A North Islander meets some West Coast Puff Daddys.

Our yearly thar trip got off to a slow start due to weather and resulted in far too much whiskey being drunk while waiting for a weather window at a good mates place in Whataroa. We had 2 days of awesome hospitality by Stagasorous before we got the call to head down for the flight in.
We arrived early Monday to our camp covered in snow and had a heap more coming. It was to be a cold few days scrub.
In the 3 days hunting, we seen far too many thar Several bulls competing over fewer nannies at one time. They were fighting and brooming which in my opinion does not help trophy potential. KiwiJames managed to get 2 good bulls with one old fella that was 13 yrs old. My other cobber got a nice 13 and a bit inch bull.
I only scared the shit out of an 820yrd rock for a laugh. I only seen one bull that I would have taken but it was inaccessable. The focus was to find one for KJ and he did well for his first go.
Not much of a report but I am still thawing out and have to get KiwiJames back to CHCH for his flight home to some cushy NI hunting.

Brilliant R93 but shit it looks cold
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Kiwijames will no doubt do a better report and he has some awesome pics as well.
The order of the pics is a bit mucked up and I am to retarded to know how to fix them.
The bull in the spotting scope was KJ's big boy a few minutes before he copped it. The wet sorry looking bull on the snowy flat was meters from our camp.

There is a bull in the 5th pic down on KJ's right hip. I was taking a pic of him taking one of the bull, but it didnt come out right.

It was farkin cold. You had to get up the hill for any sun as our camp only seen it for an hour around 3pm. I need to go back to OZ to come right.

That Thar bull looks like a cracker to me (ive never seen one in the 'flesh' so to speak) will have to add a 'Thar hunt' to the old bucket list methinks!

That heavy coat looks warm. Have you thought of sewing a couple together to sleep in?
Cracker photos. I'd give my left nut to be there too. Not a fan of the 1hr sunshine

Haha. It was fucking cold for sure. Gotta get home to my computer to get some more pictures up.
R93 is one good bastard. It was a real privilege to crash his annual Thar trip as well as be given the full Guide Rangi from Himatangi experience.
South Westland is certainly a magic place.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
