    Sika rut (hunt 1)

Thought I would throw up a few photos from Kaimaikarl, phillipGr and my sika hunt last week. Will let the pics do most of the talking.

We made the call to head in on good Friday despite the weather so that we were there when it cleared. On the walk in we heard a stag roaring from the track so spent 3 hours chasing him to no avail and ended up having to camp about half way in for the night. The next day was an absolute shitter so we cruised off at about 11 walking in rain for the remainder of the walk. It then continued to piss down for another day before Monday came around and we got 3 days of hunting before it packed a sad again causing us to walk out early.
During this time we got onto a number of animals and all managed to put something on the deck, the highlight was when we snuck in on 5 stags on one spur/terrace single calling, fighting, mewing and yak yak calling. It was amazing to hear the clash of antlers as we snuck up on them. At another point I got caught with my pants down (literally) I climbed onto a nice spur and let out a roar, I then proceeded to take a piss when I looked up I had an angry 6 pointer charging down the hill at me. I gave him a mew and he stopped giving me enough time to get a shot off. Phillip and I also got close to a couple of others single calling/mewing but the wind didnt play the game and they spooked.

Anyway heres some pics in no particular order.

Good effort with the rain. 5 on one ridge That handbag will make for some fine eating.
I like how you have gone in, smacked a few around and now going back to be more selective. All the best

    Well done guys.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

There were at least 5 stags on that ridge, and probably a few hind's as well for them be as worked up as they were. It was only a couple of animals each and all meat and heads were carried out.

That hand bag was actually a couple of years old, had milk in her tits, she was a very small hind though.
