Thread: Winter Boyd Sika Trip

Was first in there in the late 60's, there was a flash hut right on the end of the airstrip,(burnt down later), and the old Malthoid musterers hut up by where the big hut is now. Mainly Red deer there then but the Japs were there too. WE came up from Poronui on the horses, and went right through to Ngamatea, and back again. Have walked that track from Oamaru to Boyds since then and I'm stuffed if I know how we got horses through!!! We didn't have any trouble at the time, maybe the track has been rerouted, you wouldn't dare do that now, DOC would crucify you!! Still have a few old photo's, should file them somewhere before they get discarded!
