@akaroa1 have a trip coming up to freshwater river and the idea of floating with a rifle has a certain appeal, till someone take a shot at the wrong angle and everything heavy goes to the bottom.....

Ok so the planning idea isn't likely to work.... will keep doing some research.... other idea was whack the tail of a sea kayak and mount something..... or just get a sit on top (have a loathing for them having spent many hours in a 'proper' boat let's see you roll that thing in a half decent rapid)

@223nut I'm keen to fly to masons bay for a weeks hunting, walk back through to fresh water and packraft all the way back to the village
Its mostly southerly wind in there and blowing you home
And you can really move downwind with the packraft sail up
Theres often some bloody nice surf to hot dog in also

I snuck up in the lee of faith, hope and charity islands in a howling southerly.
Poked my nose out into the wind, popped the sail up and shot back to the wharf

Must get @Tentman sorted to do it

Thats not quite right . . . I like being in boats and sailing etc but I DON'T like getting wet. And having spent 10 years or so with my boat moored in Faith, Hope and Charity and sailing a lot in Island waters, I have a healthy respect for the weather there.
