Didn't think the 3.2L had the adblue system on them, but my experience is only with the rangers. I know the 2.0L biturbo everests and onwards definitely have it.

I fix diggers with this gear on it... fantastic stuff when it works, the science behind it and the amount of emissions it cuts down is amazing. BUT - all the electronic wizardry behind it is a pain and a 'delete' is a legal grey area. Fixing the aftertreatment systems can be costly for various reasons, hence the desire by most people to have it removed. Be careful and do your research first. DPS are good people to talk to about this if you need to go down that road.

AdBlue, Gents please enlighten me, I 'm looking at some SUVs with AdBlue or as it can be caller Bluetec or similar.

I know that it works by injecting Urea or something, somewhere, and it's purpose is to lower emissions...
    '
But what I dont know is why and how and what are the effects of, deleting/removing this system.

i.e. does the vehicle run better without it?

Does the vehicle fart and misbehave if it hasn't got it?

Let's put it this way. The engineers and designers of said motor did Thier thing to run it WITH additive....good bad or woke PC virtue signalling aside.deleting it to save $ on overall fuel bill is only reason you would delete it... I know of brand new wheel tractors who have had deleted from new, trucks done the instant warranty runs out... Do your due diligence.if it blows up or craps out, good luck getting any sort of help, you have just given seller, maker a get out of jail free card.

To give you the speed notes version, it is the next step along from diesels just having a diesel particulate filter in the exhaust. It is a system or process known as selective catalytic reduction (or SCR) and essentially in conjunction with running your exhaust through a particulate filter it also passes through a honeycomb matrix that, when injected with a 30% urea and water solution, reduces the nitrogen oxides from the oxygen bearing exhaust gases in the catalytic process. They essentially turn back into nitrogen and water. (backtracking a little, the DPF only removes soot and particulates). Doing this requires a lot of sensors and wizardry to monitor it all and make sure it works.

Now, the reason for a lot of this is to meet strict international emissions standards - essentially *laws* to dick with the system invites possible future prosecution due to breaking said laws - particularly when dealers and manufacturers are involved. Currently in NZ I don't think prosecution is an issue, definitely not in the earthmoving space anyway.

Remember how I said it takes a lot of wizardry to make it work? because that wizardry needs to abide by some laws (not necessarily here) then when anything goes wrong with it manufacturers don't want any average joe who can change his own oil having a crack at fixing it. The manufacturer and supporting dealers are kind of bound by those same regulations to ensure it is working properly and abiding by the emissions standards. SO - the knock on effect of that is, that engines/machines/cars go into 'limp mode' and strong chance you can do zip about it until an authorised dealer repairer puts his computer on it, verifies the fault, repairs it and verifies that it is repaired.

To 'delete' it, there are clever buggers out there who can get into the computers of these things and turn the whole she-bang off and or trick it into not working, or both. Sometimes you can remove all the unnecessary extras, sometimes you just gut the exhaust parts and get on with it. It often works flawlessly, albeit less kind on mother nature. Where it can cause headaches is when done sloppily or by somebody who doesn't care to warrant their work or help you out after they've done it. There are some really good people working in this space, and without incriminating myself I mentioned DPS for a reason earlier.

TL;DR - Adblue systems/Selective Catalytic Reduction literally results in cleaner air coming out the tailpipe of diggers in China than that being sucked in through the air filter. Removing it is possible and works fine but may one day have consequences, use somebody with a good reputation and offering backup support.
