Still no word on when it will actually go down then.
I typically buy in blocks of 20-30000kms every 12-18months so I'd be pretty pissed off I couldn't do that again when the discount is on as I'm running out soon.
I buy 10,000 at a time. I got some not long ago but I will be getting another 10,000 when it comes into play.
Not going to miss out. Also think of all the off road km's we all do yet we still pay road tax on that.
I've brought enough to get me through till months end 5k. Will be pissed if they only let you buy the same amount as your last did but won't be suprised if they do. Bastards.
Of course none of this is of any help to agree contractors, farmers, or fishermen.
Discount petrol available in bulk, why not RUC.
Remember when Winston two face Peters was in govt late 90s the first time in treasury and raised the price on ruc's and backdated it so theoretically if you had bought any in the last month before the rise you had to pay the extra.
Like buying a fridge and buying a fridge and getting a call a week later to say the price has gone up and you had to pay the difference. Dog act
As they had no way of policing it properly I suggest a lot didnt fall for that shite
Everybody around here seems to have the extra special discount switch, and I'm sure they'll be doing the same going forward :XD:
Try this: https://www.nzta.govt.nz/assets/Vehi...g-off-road.pdf
Thanks for the hint: I had no idea this was even possible.
Crimes act 1961 defines theft as:
"dishonestly and without claim of right, using or dealing with any property with intent to deprive any owner permanently of that property or of any interest in that property after obtaining possession of, or control over, the property in whatever manner."
Surely $50 million extra dollars stolen should have had heads rolling? Oh wait it was retroactively rushed through a flawed law change? Not in NZ surely :D
Just buy the amount you normally purchase ie 10000 every month for the three months then it doesn’t look as suspicious as buying 30000 at once. Well that’s going to be how I do it, see what happens they are to useless to check on people anyway
But nothing stopping petrolheads buying fuel in drums.
For those who think you are going to get 20000km at discount

Im usually pretty good at reading stuff but I cant make sense of that at all.
Don't worry. It was lost on me too.:wtfsmilie:
so if you do 20000km a year you can only buy 5000km. your normal 3 months worth
Soooo... If we have surplus km's (i.e. just topped up) we can purchase an 'overlap licence' to claim the equivalent to a 36% deduction in price and just pay the extra? Did I get that right?
Soooo... Can someone explain how that works using the little words??????????????? Got me stuffed.
I've been flicking the Hilux odo that much any purchase of RUC's would trigger a red flag.

I buy 20,000kms every year in bulk. That is what I will be buying late April. My perk. End of.
Just a heads up, the discount on road user charges starts today and ends on the 21st of July.
I bought 22k kms today for two vehicles today, you have to sign a separate form to say that you agree that NZTA can charge you full whack if they find you screwing the system etc.
Large transport companies should do alright and bank some coin.
Sweet, I will be buying 20ish K for 1 vehicle shortly. I usually only buy once a year so they shouldn't get their knickers in a twist but we will see I guess
Was tht ruc for a ute 300winmag?? Like under three ton??!
Me as an Aussie I don't understand what you are talking about I always thought New Zealand was a so-called free country.
Is this a rego thing
