Theres so much conflicting information aye. At least with delete you wont have to worry about it again
What does the delete do. I have a new hilux and wondered what the egr thing is
I know it reticaltes exhaust gas into intake
? Wonder what if under warranty its allowed.
Wouldnt think so. Some countrys its illegal to tamper with it.
The simpler fix is to use oil that does not bind with the soot travelling through the EGR into the inlet manifold
Mobil Delvac ESP 15w40
It’s also a FEO
The Delvac has a design brief that prevents it and the soot forming a sludge or paste, they stay in their own formulation and pass harmlessly through the engine
My hiluxes are at 170K now and only a slight smear of soot on the intake and EGR orifice

Have a hilux at 330k kms.
I’m gona spray that EGR cleaner spray this weekend. Cleaning the intake has been on the list of things to do but I think I’ll get around to it now.
Some engines seem to produce a fair bit more crud than others running the exact same spec. I still think the only real way forward is not run the setup that allows crap into the engine in the first place...
The Ranger gets a blanking plate, a loop of radiator hose to stop the coolant flowing through the EGR cooler and then a tweak in the PCM file to stop the thing throwing an error code. Seems to run a lot better after the delete, the only real change I see is the coolant temp takes a bit longer than it used to to come up. As part of the same work, I got the vane oil pump swapped out for a gear pump and that was more interesting - fixed the annoying idle tick that this engine has had from new.
