    Hilux D4d injector knowledge

My 2005 sheep shagger 4x4 started using more deisel than I would like or should.
The price of the shit has pushed me into sorting!
I did a clean of the MAS and that'd the trick along with a couple of injector cleans.
Put a new belt and water pump in and noticed the fuel usage was climbing.
I booked it in for scan and checked the MAS again and it was dirty again, probably from when I blew the air box out. and 2 injectors are a little out of spec when cold and just in spec when warm.
The sump pick up is still clear of carbon, what the experts on here reckon?
Looking like a 2k job to do the lot.
    Cheers Andy

Is that the model with the injector in the DPF unit? Those have been known to create a high fuel use situation, but not sure off the top of my head what years had them. Other than that, injectors and injection system can do it if the nozzle tips are the least bit worn, poor pattern and overfuelling and it probably doesn't take much to stuff things up there.

Might pay to look at tyre pressures, loading and alignment too, that can cause things to change.

As i say I was doing approx 10.5l per 100k.
    Then jumped to +14.
Did a MAS clean and all good then up it went again.
Will be checking litres per hundy after I pickup from garage tonight
Checked all pressures ect and nothing g out of the ordanairy in the tyres ect.
    Fuck knows!

Have you checked the on board computer readings against your actual real life using pump receipts for litres and a gps for mileage? If you fill to visible in the neck from say the 1/4 fill line on the gauge each time it'll make the maths a little easier. It wouldn't be the first time that the onboard calcs are up the poo.

How did you do the injector cleans, a tin of spooge bought from Repco tipped into the fuel tank or actually ripped them out and sent away for new pintles/check for spray pattern etc
I'd like to verify your clam.

I have no onboard calcuators just fill it up to visible and km's of the odo and calculate from that.

You are using big words that fencers can't grasp!
I have a specialist toyota hilux lover slash hilux mechanic all over it.
First step is the spooge thingy and then retest and see what has changed from the known benchmark.
We will then make a plan!
If I have to do the whole lot properly so be it but hate spending g loot unless it's warranted.
Can I get my injectors refurbished for my 2005 sheep shagger?

No dpf on that model but you do have the egr putting carbon back into the inlet manifold. Have you checked to see if I let ports need cleaning?

Absolutely you can normally take your buggered ones in and swap them for refurbished ones then the refurbish yours and move them on had to do it on mine while I was down south. The mechanic sorted it out though so I wouldn’t no where to look. They were significantly cheaper and that was in 2013 from memory and their still going great

Make sure someone hasn’t changed your telemetry reading from litres per km to kms per litre

Or changed it from instant fuel use to the average fuel use

The first two numbers will jump and give you a hell of a fright

My ute is 2005 so no option for that.
Watching the fuel Guage decend is the giveaway along with checking fuel used physically and kms done.

Go through all the regular checks you need to with any ‘modern’ POS diesel vehicle. Filters, fuel pump, injector pump and injectors, EGR valve and inlet manifold, PCV valve. You’ll find the problem, just might cost a couple of grand.
