    Some banks offer very low interest rates on loans for "green" vehicles. ANZ for instance lends up to $80,000 at 1% p.a. interest that you can use to buy a new or used hybrid vehicle (among many other "green" purchases).
    So even if you don't particularly want a hybrid, if you're considering finance then these bank loans are about as cheap as it gets. I think the hybrid Hilux is one of the very few utes available that would qualify for this.

    Fwiw our main car is a Lexus hybrid (effectively the Toyota system) and it's very nice to drive. Heaps of torque off the line, almost totally quiet at idle. This is a different system however, in my case the electric and petrol motors both output power to an e-CVT trans.
