    Insurance or valuation recommendation please

Anyone recommend an insurer for a 4WD? I've bought a '93 Cherokee that's been completely overhauled, kitted out & all the mods certified. I've got all our other insurance with AMI, but they're struggling to know how to handle this one.

Alternatively a valuer in Christchurch who can put a figure on it for them would help.

Apologies if this has been discussed previously. I can never work the search function on this site.

I had the same problem insuring my BJ40.
Like you we have the rest with AMI.
    Went with Classic Cover.
Real easy online fill in details. provide photos etc done deal.
They know what things are worth the run of the mill outfits do not.

I am also with FMG, now after a bad AMI experience.
FMG don't blink when you mention firearms, 4x4's etc
AMI will do the absolute best to avoid paying, and they did, hence FMG after 40 odd years paying AMI and previous to that SIMU
They are just cunts when it matters, get rid of them.

Any of the Insurance companies under the IAG umbrella are greedy buggers, so do some research and find out who they are and avoid them... for example NZI, Lumley Insurance, State, AMI.

During the first lockdown Tower offered unsolicited a rebate to their insured because there were less claims and more profit which could be shared with their clients.....I asked State to do the same and you can guess the response....also no prizes for guessing where all our business is now....!

Not 4wd but looked at FMG for my tractor and other implements but got a better deal through AON who are brokers.
The main insurers at that stage wouldn't do my tractor but that may have changed. Or if they would, they were hideously expensive.
AON were excellent when I tipped my tractor on its side

    Thanks for the advice guys!

No joy with FMG, I'm a nasty townie so they wouldn't touch me Great experience with Classic Cover though - thanks for the recommendation @erniec! And well cheaper than AMI as you say, @Longranger. Might be looking to switch all our vehicle insurances to a different provider.

Classic Cover were great to deal with when I had a very modified turbo MX5, never needed to claim but they were great to deal with and insured it with lower premiums than AMI charged for a standard one.

I would have insured other cars with them too but they don't really do regular cars, just modified, classics and competition etc.

I am glad they sorted you out.
I have found the advice on this forum to be really good and happy to help someone else.
In fact if you ignore the sniping squabbling threads this forum is pretty good.
There are some real good guys and gals on here and they know what they are talking about.
