Lockers are awesome - if you know how to use them properly.

The average driver wouldn't know how to use them correctly and would get into way more crap than they could handle.
A properly operating LSD is going to be more usable to the average 4wder.
But to a driver used to his vehicle offroad, and is well used to offroad driving, even just 1 locker can make all the difference.

And if your goin to install only one make it a rear.
Its not often you can actually use a front.

handy if you go over a track that gets your wheels in the air and you cant get around it. lock em up, roll on over. generally means you can also take obstacles a lot slower rather than having a run up then a spin up bouncing everywhere and damaging shit.

The 1988/89 safari's had a rear LSD, swap bar disconnect and often a PTO winch which is what my one has....Im not aware of an electric locking diff. The only thing wrong with it is the 4.2 deisel lacks the grunt to match the rest of it.....

They love turbos tho, the factory ones are a bit anemic but there is plenty around making ridiculous power and staying together(the engine at least)

I can't imagine life without lockers. I reckon its saved me money, no more run ups at speed to make a tricky part. Locker on, low 4, crawl your way through anything

Oh and Timmay never believed me but coils really are king

    Lockers are great.....

but you need to be sure how to use them, 2 were killed on a 4x4 run I was on when they turned down a tow out as they wouldn't need it, they engaged the lockers to get out of a drain...gave it a bit to much and shot out of the drain...... and being locked kept going straight and over the edge rolling to the bottom.

If you get them learn when and how to use them !!

Yep, not much turning will happen all locked up. Rear only not too bad.

Can also break shit being a dick on hard surfaces all locked up like backing into a bank and skiding it around like a bulldozer instead of backing 500m up the track to turn around... But i wouldn't know anything about that:rolleyes:
