Does this make my Colorado worth Millions?
About bloody time
The brand has been Weekend at Bernies for some time, was inevitable.
Boss will be grumpy tomorrow, oh well he thinks I bought a Ford to annoy him. Have never let on it was the only manual ute I could find at the right price at the time, but I do wind him up about it anyway.
Is GM going to build a Chevvy factory here then??
:)
Hardly surprising.
Who can afford the fuel bill for a nice 302 v8.
A lot of their passenger cars were rebadged opels, vauxhalls, chevys.
Whilst I've never been a Ford or Holden fan, it's a bit sad that a lot of people passionate about their product / brand are going to continue losing their jobs.
Blue oval man myself but it’s always sad to see marques like Buick, Pointiac, Oldsmobile and now Holden going extinct
12784563 then 18436572 now it has to be 13726548 unless you go mopar.
EH will never die :)
Here is my prediction...Holden is gone as NZ and Aus is their only market. The best sellers will be branded the same as their stable mates over seas...(Opels, Vauxhalls, etc) There is too much money to be had in the Ute, SUV and large car market, but not enough to justify separate branding and models for a couple of smaller volume (sales wise) countries...
Commodore is sold overseas as a Vauxhall. I don't know what he Colorado is marketed as in the US etc but it is likely that brand will turn up here. Possibly with a restructure and rebranding.....
Got a feeling I've seen somewhere that the Colorado Z71 is a Chevrolet Z71 in the States.............could be wrong
The current Commodore was an orphan once GM sold Opel and Vauxhall to Peugeot in 2017. Peugeot agreed to make the car until the early 2020's and then it was going to be moving on to it's own platforms. To show people how bad General Motors is as a company, Opel lost money for 20 years and Peugeot made Opel profitable in 18 months by eliminating all the waste and inefficiencies.
Really to save Holden the only option was to have bundled Holden in with the Opel and Vauxhall sale to Peugeot.
289 302 351= Ford 253 308 = gm
Isuzu will likely be going; "Hmmmmmmmm..........."
A classic example of what happens when a viable company is controlled by accountants and university graduates (plus bolshy unionists). It just gets top-heavy and falls over! The crap about the small RH drive market being the reason is just garbage. It is a piece of cake to design a vehicle that is both ambidextrous and stylish. It is a shame to lose a great marque. I have owned many Holdens from the old FJ right through to an HSV GTO and have had an excellent run out of all of them. Oh well, I still have my Chevs!
GM will go the way of british leyland if they arent careful. too top heavy, relying on top ups from the taxpayer with a workforse who hold the company to ransom if someone stubs their toe while working
Isuzu got out of GM years ago when GM went bankrupt.
Vauxhall has been sold to Peugot, who have promptly closed that brand down.
ALL RHD GM products have been canned which is the big thing that come out of this GM announcement. Thats globally.... ALL RHD are done.
I'd say they're in the poo big time and are restructuring.
Dealerships here and in Aussie will be sweating. Parts and servicing only for the next 3yrs and possibly up to 10yrs, then all over rover.
What will be the value a recently purchased "Commodore"/Opel/Pug when the owner comes to sell or trade in the future?
Chev make the same as a colorado in the mid size truck.

Gm is getting out of all right hand drive vehicles, we should expect to see, along with Japanese, more euro eg BMW, Renault, Fiat etc on ours and Aussie roads
The factory that made Colorado in Thailand has been sold to the Chinese.
Imagine back in the day “.....and here’s number 05 Peter Brock of the VDT team....”

Anyone care to speculate on why they're axing all rhd cars
That's a big market if they can make something decent and affordable
Holden tech has been 10-15yrs behind everything else. GM have done zero development for them as the Holden market is less than 1% of the global market. Why keep a dying brand going and losing money hand over fist?
Interesting thing is Holden in Aussia and NZ have the second largest dealer network (2nd to Toyota) and have less then 4% of the Aussie market and less than 3% of the NZ market.
Toyota Corolla sold more product than Holdens total sales in NZ alone last year.
Toyota have signed a deal to supply NZ Police with vehicles from what I understand.
At least they'll be able to fit the crooks into the back of them, unlike the new Commodores where they've had to do a swap the 600 sedans for wagons already.
