Just picked this up today. Had a little ride around at home and goes real well with full throttle mode. Going to give it a good test in CNI this weekend. Anyone else used one to hunt off

So the frame folds inhalf just infront of the seat stem? What sort if range if not using it at full power?
My 80 year old neighbour has the same - I worried he will can off and possible do a hip or something
Yep all folds down. Battery will take you as far as 100km on a single charge according to the specs
48V 19.2Ah battery
is anyone else reminded of the great honda 110 stepthrough of yesteryear????
that looks like a serious weapon... please post up how you got on.
@Micky Duck honda are putting out a new 125 am sure you would be able to buy a few off these bikes for the price of a honda
my old mate has the same bike he suffers from the bends after a diving accident 30 years ago and has to drag one leg to walk the bike gave him a new lease of life
Yeah I’ll see how it goes with distance over the weekend. 30 or 40km is still plenty to get me into camp and back
Looks good. What would something like that set you back?
What sort of dollars?
I have been giving an Ebike some serious thought of late but more looking at fulky suspended MTB than cargo type bikes.
@vietnamcam I picked it up off trademe for $2200 off an old fella who had ridden it for 15km and hadn’t used it again. They are $2550 new
FIL recently sold his Cherokee Chief, he wasn't getting the economy this one seems to offer. It was good off-road though.

I had a ct110 in mint showroom condition but sold it as rego was too expensive. Enquired about the UBCO bikes (rrp about $7k) and walked after being told they were quite heavy and claimed range was at lower speeds on flat sealed surface. They will eat the Kw when raced over undulating terrain. Currently investigating the fat tyred bike like on this thread as they would be suitable to fit on the caravan tow bar. I’d be interested in how you find this machine works out.
I’d love one of these

I gather the power makes them a moped under NZ laws ...
this is a bit more like it, not cheap tho

If you are looking at a full sized bike, these seem to have the best reputation and performance. Front and back tyres are identical (standard 21 inch trailbike size) There appears to be a NZ rep. Some good NZ YT footage too.
This YT shows how close in performance the Sur Ron is to a high performance 2 stroke 250:

30-40 mile range. 7.5K ish NZ
a guy i follow on instagram uses one for camera hunting hogs
the camera send a photo to his phone and he scoots up to it with his 308 on the front and pops them
virtually silent approach
I like the idea of them but I dont have a use for one at this stage
very interested to hear how you get on, this could be very handy for us more "mature hunters". Imagine very cold temps might also eat into your battery life ?
Shit it looks like that thing can take a pounding. Plenty of grunt too. I wonder how the batteries hold up over time with a bit of bashing. No shortage of power though. I'm thinking about getting an E bike for a combo of commuting and off road. These look like it could be a contender
What about one of these

Not sure why they would want to trial any of those lightweight Ebikes. I've ridden the Ubco. Its far more Raleigh twenty than MTB when negotiating lumpy terrain, and slow, and has little suspension travel. The 2WD function is more fad than practical, as anyone who rides an enduro bike half well could vouch for. It needs the 2WD 'cause its wheels are so small.
A soldier, even a small one, has to cart quite a bit of 'essential kit' wherever they go. Especially when travelling off track. NONE of those MTB variants have the strength of frame and ruggedness of suspension to cart that sort of weight cross country.
The only advantage I can think of that an Ebike could offer mil forces is stealth. It loses out big time on range and top speed, esp when loaded up with soldier, belt order and personal weapon. Current SF bikes crank out 50ish Hp and have a foot of suspension travel, and cart 130ish kg. Any Ebike being considered would have to be able to measure up to those sort of specs
i have been repairing modding a few e-scooters. the lower end models all seem to use the same generic motor controllers and by cutting the feedback from the motor to the controller it lets them rev right out to maximum. one scooter i worked on was limited to 27k, after modding it did 40. sounds slow until you are standing on one hooning down the street
Just got into camp bike went well going about 3.5km of constant uphill lost about 10% of battery life loaded with gear. Definately wouldn’t tap out at full speed but enough to mooch along at a sprint. Pretty happy so far. I’ll see how it goes on the way out on Sunday hopefully loaded with venison! I’ve definately got fresh legs for the weekend
What happens if you cross creeks with these e bikes?
@Micky Duck I got a Suzuki RM80 for my 10th birthday which at the time was only 7 years old. It was only a few months later that we were at the neighbours place and saw a step thru 90 that they had. Dad proceeded to tell me that he nearly brought one for me instead of the RM. Never have I been so thankful in my life.
mate they looked like a girly bike but they sure went alot of places..being so light they could be lifted over trouble. sure made it easy to have the dog along for ride.
Philip Holden had one on rabbit board...photo of it somewhere.... these electric bikes have come a long way in a hurry...give it ten years and who knows what great machines will be about the show.....I can think of a certain valley full of temptation where that there machine would be awesomeness indeed.
MSL that about sums it up....once upon a time we didnt give a shit what it looked like ....it was faster than peddling and powered up hills.
I also had an 80cc Yamaha enduro bike, but the scooter was far superior due to the carriers and centrifugal clutch. I can still remember riding along with a sack full of possums on my back, when one of them woke up and started to claw it’s way out, not enough hammer.
