Well the US-assembled ones often were. The Chinese-assembled ones are far better. My son has had a Tesla3 for about a year now. Quite impressive actually and this is grudgingly from someone who owns two FOG vehicles (Fuck off Greta, as in guzzler petrols). The Tesla has had zero probs so far and he's done long trips in it with the family. Last one was H Bay to Rotovegas and round a bit, using free chargers in Taupo and plugging into the wall at the Roto motel. Total "fuel" cost $18 for the trip and he's not into economy driving styles.

same as nickel last few years peaked at 21,000 recently - all adds to the cost of EV's - until they come up with a solid state battery that can charge 80% in 5-10 minutes ev's will never be the solution

Probably fine if its under warranty, as soon as warranty's run out on tesla's your in for some fun times - No aftermarket parts, reports from several usa based youtubers about how pricey and expensive they are when out of warranty are easy to find
and its usually paints a dismal picture- also in NZ there are buggerall service centers for them 1 in Auck, Chch, Well. Because it has to be done with tesla not anyone else unless you want to void the warranty, just ring the service center and ask for a
quote on a new battery and the timeframe to install if you want some entertainment

I thought they'd just have two fat welding cables from the battery to the motor and a big old knife switch in place of the handbrake to make it go!?
