    Quadbike on a 7x4 trailer

Been looking at trailers and wondering if there is anyone out there that manages to fit a quad bike on a 7x4 trailer? Need to get a general use trailer and there seems to be a lot more second hand options in the 7x4 size. Wanted to get one that I could potentially fit a quad on, likely try and find a Honda TRX or similar sized quad in the future.

I have done a bit of research and 8x5s would be a bit better for fitting a quad on, just wondered if there is anyone out there that manages with a 7x4.
Only some days are leg days now.

I have a Kea 6x4 and a TRX 300 fits on it just. But the 300 does have a smaller footprint than most other models.
And the 6x4 is a bit heavy to tow with the 300.
    Overkill is still dead.

I went 8x5 for a general use trailer .... you cant fit a standard sheet of ply or gib on a 7x4.......... there are probably more 7x4 options s/h out there cos people bought them then found they were too small for what they wanted and just didn't get used

I use a 7x4 with a TRX300 - fits on tightly enough that you can get away without tiedowns on a short trip. Mine has beefier springs in it that normal for a garden trailer though due to what it was originally built for as noted above - some will be to light for a four wheeler (I got it after the original gear was ripped off it and turned it back into a garden trailer).

I have a 6X4 that I manage to fit my 660 grizzley on just. And by just I mean I leave the back tailgate up and the quad drops down into the trailer. If I try with the tailgate down I can't close it as the tread on the tires are too pushybacky

Thats a bit pushing it .

I have MXU400 and its fit OK on 7x4 (tilt able - no ramp needed)

I went 7by 5 for.my trx 350. Gives a little more space side wise but it's front to back on the trailer
No extra length really. It does have front bars though

    I run a kea 7x44x 2.1x1350
It gives me 50mm clearance down each side
If I was going to replace it with another single axle I would be going 2.4. Bit more room on trailer to put animals behind bike

My Honda 500 fits on a 2150x1290 tipping trailer with high sides. I replaced the top hung tailgate with a bottom hinged one so it doubles as a ramp.

Thanks for all the replies, sounds like there is quite a few using a 7x4 trailer to tow quads around. 7x4 seems like it is a lot more common, will keep an eye out for an 8x5 but I'm guessing that I'll likely end up with a 7x4.

Funny how we still call them 7x4's when a tape measure tells you they are now usually all metric sizings!

One thing in favour of the smallest size trailer you can get away with is that when you get to where you are going it's a lot easier on the quad to haul the trailer with some gear and stuff on it. A trailer doesn't have to get much bigger to go from no problem to wow this is struggling from my experience of it, and it mostly seems to be a terrain factor.

My trailer is too small to put a full standard sheet of material on it, what I have for the odd time I need to do this is chuck a slightly modified full sheet pallet on top of it and strap it down to the trailer. Works pretty well for what I need, might look a bit naff but means to an end. If I went for a bigger trailer I'd be looking to a big tandem, full load size with sides and ends that come off and slide up between the chassis rails to turn into a proper flat deck. But that's a bit off the original topic.
