Last Subie cambelt I had done was about $1k all up including idlers, tensioners, new waterpump etc.
How much if a rally team does it?
Also depends if it quad cam and turbo
2.5 non turbo
Not that hard to do yourself if you are mechanically minded - YouTube will teach you... I've just done mine

yep been there done that, rather pay someone to get it right in a few hours
i used to do all my subaru ones , .. with iders , tensioner , seals etc ... i could do it for around $500 .... all at cost , but the first reply is about right .. for retail with labour .. 1K
Bugger I got ripped. My Impreza cost $1300. Need a new mechanic lol.
Not always, there is multiple types, some are cheap and some are expensive
Last expensive one I did was over 1000 just for the parts from Subaru and they had the best price
As to the op
Budget $800-$1500
i would say 700-900. parts cost for all idlers, water pump etc is about 400
Glad my Sub is chain driven :)
You're talking hundreds of thousands of ks. I won't have the car that long. And you are welcome to your belt drives which as you will already know in some brands, when they break they cause major engine damage. Would rather put up with a slighly noisy chain. My model of Sub is now chain driven, why would Subaru have done that - a system that would seemingly be more expensive over a belt driven system?
