    Subaru Forester 2009 cam belt

    hey all, can someone tell me what ballpark cost will be for replacing cam belt on these and other ass parts they wanna replace at the time...

    Last Subie cambelt I had done was about $1k all up including idlers, tensioners, new waterpump etc.

    i used to do all my subaru ones , .. with iders , tensioner , seals etc ... i could do it for around $500 .... all at cost , but the first reply is about right .. for retail with labour .. 1K

    Not always, there is multiple types, some are cheap and some are expensive
    Last expensive one I did was over 1000 just for the parts from Subaru and they had the best price

    As to the op
    Budget $800-$1500

    i would say 700-900. parts cost for all idlers, water pump etc is about 400

    You're talking hundreds of thousands of ks. I won't have the car that long. And you are welcome to your belt drives which as you will already know in some brands, when they break they cause major engine damage. Would rather put up with a slighly noisy chain. My model of Sub is now chain driven, why would Subaru have done that - a system that would seemingly be more expensive over a belt driven system?
