Didn't want to hi jack a couple of threads so what are all these issues with the latest hilux?
My guess is electronic gimmickry
6+ month wait time from order is the biggest issue.
I would have not started the other thread if I could get one within acceptable wait times.
One major issue could be fixed by sacking the interior design team
Last company ute I had was a hilux, DPF filter went to shit on it other than that was ok but geared little to tall for 6th gear.
They will always cop flack because they are Toyota, best resale vehicles out there, just sold my 2014, I wanted a new prado but September next year so went with the Everest
@Smiddy about time you made an appearance back here, how’s tricks on the Coast?
2002 model. Love it
I am talking the latest 2021 model
I've got one for work, about 4 months old and @10k on it with no problems so far, haven't heard of anyone else having problems with theirs either. My biggest annoyance was they 'forgot' to put a towbar on it! Like who buys a ute without a towbar? The 'Toyota custom' canopy is cheap and nasty too but you get what you pay for I suppose
Never had any issues with mine ........

I’ve got the latest Hilux. Had it since December coming up to 18k on the clock and the only issue I’ve got is a bit of a brief shudder now and again when it gets up around the 100km/hr mark. Toyota know about it and are working on a fix. I will say the ride isn’t great and will upgrade the suspension but our roads do suck!

I would love to put one of these on mine ........

I brought a brand new one and drives great with a noticeable power increase over the older model. But I did get a manual one and in hindsight I would go auto next time. I have since sold it and looking for a 76 cruiser. New and flash isn’t for me.
In the process of ordering a 2021 hilux atm, long wait but no stress. The secondhand market that’s not far off new is ridiculous at the moment so there’s no real gain going that way vs new so long as you don’t mind the wait.
Anyone pre odered one of those Gucci LandCruiser 300's?? I see there's going to be up to a 4 year wait for punters who have already put some money down, to receive theirs. Marketing dudes did too well, and had 20,000 punters signed up when the factory can only make 5,000 of them annually!
Im really struggling to understand how a new vehicle tax is pushing up the price of second hand vehicles? Not saying its not happening just dont understand why?
Also how the hell can you trade a worn out ute for a new one for effectively 3k difference (minus the dirty ute tax) when new is apparently in such short supply?
Yeah....9 months ago looked at a tidy second hand Vitara for the wife.....they were asking 27 from memory....nearly 4years old...test drove said to salesman we like it but not the price...the price is the price he said.( Got an immediate fuck you response in my head but said something more pleasant)
So typical wanker car salesman....sleazy cunts the lot of them starts texting me and the wife separately trying to cut a deal.
End result we brought a brand new base model ( with some finance) for less total cost than a three year old one...Wtf.
And I did make a point of texting said slimeball and telling him we had bought new for less.[emoji106]

There’s just a lack of supply, drove past the local Toyota place last month and there wasn’t a hilux on the lot!
4-5 month wait for new Rangers, hilux probably the same, lot of folk wanting them before Cindys tax comes in.
7 month wait on a sr5 hilux, Dont know what @stagstalker was told the wait was. Sr was model was longer. So toyota doesn't have any hilux's in stock and believe over 10000 new vehicles on back order
There seems to be a lot of new Rangers sitting on lots.
That's because 200-250Km they shit themselves, if not before
Mazda the same
Ford Dealers go.... 180km " 'Good km' then the tell you 200 is high. Wankers.
I know 2 brand new buyers that the fords have shit between 225 and 250, one of them driving home from a service
Ford doesn't want to know.
Fuck Ford NZ
2004 model 93000 km's for just under $38000 on trademe
Trouble with the new Toyota is
They are 3 yrs behind, Colorado, Ranger ,
I looked at one when my warranty ran out a couple of months ago
I'd be paying 20K plus for something I already have
No Thanks.
No sure if Rant is the Proper description, up to your interpretation I guess
And I don't own a Ranger.
And..............................
Your turn.
Thats it there I think....toyota owners generally dont like to admit anything is wrong with them.
25 years of Toyotas ownership myself certainly the older ones are more reliable.....but they are all worn out and thrashed now.
The most reliable Toyota I have owned was a 2l petrol SW Rav.
That scores the most points for being mercilessly raped towing boats and firewood.....beach and dune work (which it outdid every other "proper " 4wd at by a long margin)....it just did it and cost me a cv boot and a oil change or two.
If I get my order in this week then expected arrival is April next year (SR5).
My son n law ordered his new hilux about a month ago.Hope to be here in Feb March next yr.
I used to have a behind the times Hilux
Sheep shagger they called it
had to be in low before it would go through a side steps high stream
Needed serviced every 7K and needed the valve seats done every time you clicked over 40 k
