We got some at work , as a drive vehicle they are hard to beat IMO . As for offload no idea .
Thanks munsey.
I should have mentioned the use. Daily drive to work (6 min), main use is towing a boat that is yet to be purchased (looking like a fc620 ht - or something similar).
Not really into serious 4wd, but interested in performance
Better than the Colorado I had. Better trans and engine braking.
@Philipo has one
They easily get stuck in 10 cm of mud! Had to ask for the help of a Toyota hilux to get it out...
I'm pretty sure the Wildtrack is only a cosmetic upgrade from the standard Ranger. My Ranger has about 85,000 on it now. I like mine.
Good around town. Its a bit big, but reverse camera helps with parallel parking.
Can put 3 kids and Wife in it comfortably. Previous utes were more truck inside where these are now more car inside. This is comfortable and I don't get a sore back if I'm driving for a long time.
Drives well. I think I get something around 9.0L/100km average
Tows well. I don't tow often, but when I do I have not had any issues. 3.2L diesel eats most hills and loads.
I've never had a break down in it. Not even a flat battery. Its been a good run so far.
I get my ute with the job. I've had Rangers for the last 10 years.
They are a great ute Beaker. I had one new as a company vehicle a couple of years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yep, my old ranger 2013, just turned over 127ks, I've had an awesome run, joy to drive, I've put 18" ranger wheels and the wild track tray cover on it. I'd buy another. @Friwi, turn off the traction control
Thanks guys.
Only real reason I mentioned the wildtrack over the xlt, was the vertical height adjustment on the drivers seat, the xlt didn't have it and I want it.
Hmmm maybe I should be looking at a ranger not the triton... Hen again I could almost buy two low special triton for one ranger, and then I would be driving a Ford....
My work Ranger XLT (2013) has done 233000kms and still goes great. Had a couple of EGR valve replacements and an oil cooler replacement. Boss has a 2017 Wildtrack with all the gizmos but I still prefer my PX1 to his PX2. Great tow truck with plenty of room.
I love my Wildtrak ( 2016 model ) It's a grouse truck, I use it 99% on the road, it drives very well & is a great touring vehicle.
Pros - Goes & handles great, nice interior layout & styling, good size screen with decent stereo & GPS, lots of great electric gizmo's that actually work properly ( some only found on the wildtrak ) such as auto dipping headlights, active cruise control & heated seats.
Con's - The turbo is very big with a narrow power band so you need to work it for best results, Front grill / bumper styling in a bit naff, headlights are gutless & have far to narrow a beam & the door beeper ( that can't be turned off ) drives me farken bonkers.
The second generation face lift of the current model ( late 2015 onwards ) is the one to go for, plus the Wildtrak comes standard with a tow bar & deck roller, Not added extras like with some other brands
Thought about sticking a light bar or decent spotlights but other than that no never bothered since it's basically a road ute, It's pretty useless on the greasy shit with the standard road HT rubber ( especially in 2WD ) but I must admit the hill decent works really well, I had to drive out from a hut high in the hills on a steep clay track after a night of heavy rain and it handled it well. Also has a rear diff lock so should be a capable off roader with decent mud feet although its quite a heavy unit @ 2.5 ton.
I had one a great Ute only sold it to get the Everest and love it.

Mines still in the shop, waiting on a new gearbox, 65k on the clock. It only just came out of the shop after having transfer case issues
Are the Mazda BT50 and Ranger one in the same like they used to be? Can get a pretty good deal on a new BT50 by buying through Farmsource and I also have been kicking a few tyres lately
From what I've heard the BT50 runs the old ( first gen 2012 ranger ) gear box etc, I test drove one & it was a nice truck ( styling is a bit different ) I was seriously considering but for some reason we don't get the decent dash ( with decent touch screen ) in NZ like Aussie does, We just get some antiquated old "full of push buttons" entertainment & climate control system with shit gps & reversing camera. Mazda dropped the ball there big time :x_x:
@Tommy any thoughts on them? And can you turn off the beepers etc by plugging into a computer ?
In the old days we had lights that turned into the turn when you steered.
Apparently this is to expensive to put on a 60k plus vehicle now?

Phils is the only Ranger I have been in.
Its a nice vehicle, it has a big screen to put fancy pictures on :)
It seemed to have plenty of engine noise & grunt, which was quite apparent from its fuel use.
It was nice to be a passenger in, I didn't drive it.
I thought the lights were very average, took me back to my Torana days :)
Yeah the engine does have a lot of "diesel twang" If I go though the Maca's drive through when it's cold I have to turn her off to they can hear me lol
Also like I said the electric gizmo's are great, has multi coloured interior lighting & you can download a low res photo to put on the touch screen as a screen saver ( Fuk I'm a hansom devil lol )
