Lead clips will do straight to battery, but put a 20-25amp fuse between the red lead and clip for positive side.
Would hate to see it go up in flames without the fuse. New bulb but don't touch the bulb with your fingers, use a rag.

Something is setting off alarm bells. What is the Wattage of the bulb? A 55W will be drawing just over 4A and a 100W just under 8A and neither should blow a 10A fuse.

You probably need to check out the wiring and connectors.

Wired cord to battery then used a piece of wire to pull it up through the panels and up and out from the ignition.

    I'd go back to a 10A fuse.

Power (watts) equals V (volts) x I (amps / current).

    W\V - I W\I -V

    W
VI The - is the best I could find to equals

We cooked the med lightforce cig plug, chopped it off put on bike battery clips, made up short bike clips to bulldogs. When spotlighting popped the bonnet clipped onto the battery and let the bonnet down gently... Could also put a bike battery in a pack and stuff...
