Best way would be to swing by your wof place and run the idea by them quickly. That said, it sounds doable to me, pretty sure I saw a subaru wagon the other day with a wee light bar floating just in front of the grille, looked to be mounted back through the grille in a similar manner to your intention.

It’s possible though that it might run afoul due to protruding further forward than the bumper

Just remember that a light bar on the front of the vehicle must be separately switched, can’t come on/off with your high beams etc.
