Just a thought for experienced older hunters

Is there any interest in a hunt for a week or so for experienced older bushmen over 70 age group? A few days in easy semi open terrain with no big rivers or steep mountains like Golden Hills may suit, but with good animal numbers. Maybe four per group?

I have one in a couple of months, camp cook but intend to take a book, a box of beers and a comfy chair and know a spot where I can sit and wait...and what's this "with good animal numbers"...do you intend to miss a few?

Only shoot what you can use. "Good animal numbers" means less hobbling along for old knees Relaxing and enjoying the view are important too. As you get older you lose old mates to the other happy hunting grounds.

Put the effort and skills into shooting the first one not, the last one...don't come back into camp saying "I spooked 6 today"

Not interested in looking at suberbia thanks. The hundreds of beatiful shades of green , yellow and browns of the bush, stream borders of flaxes and shrubs, the mauve monowai, the blond tussocks, the blue skies and greys of the clouds, the campfire embers scented smoke and a good brew; not forgetting the great cookups and banter. Real life.

I am a couple of birthday short, but could be keen. A good book,a fold up chair, a bit of hunting, sounds perfect to me

I’m only 51 but feel like I’m over 70 some days - does that count?

I think you would qualify anyway @Rushy. Good old mates are rarer by the day and therefore more precious and special in our favourite places.

I’m still a couple of years off seventy and still have my own teeth, hair, hips and knees but if I could squeeze in as chief cook and bottle washer I would be keen (depending on the where and when).

I did a last-of-the-summer-wine trip into Tepuke a couple of years ago, or I thought it was my last trip but have been offered a free heli trip into the Kaimanawa's...one young buck on the trip so hope to use him as a pack horse.

Fuck the hunting, lets get on the piss...the old bus is not in use at the moment...bring a box and a gold card entry fee. Well you could go hunting up Thompson's if you really want to.
