i bought a corded hikoki grinder and circular saw.
grinder bloody great, saw was a failure and wouldnt even cut thru pallet wood without stalling, took it back. they sent it away for repair and lost it.
replaced it and got extra store credit for the inconvenience

I have every brand bar dewalt these days just because when specials come around Ill buy em and not all brands do all skins. Does t bother me having different batteries etc.
If your just after dril driver combo id go bosch blue.
Milwaukee is everywhere because the reps push super hard.
I run milwaukee hilti makita aeg and bosch and a coulple of hitachi corded.
Of all brands ive had less hassle out of the aeg tbh

We've got a shitload of Milwaukee gear in our workshop & service vans. I usually sort the warranty claims out for replacements, which seem to be the M12 1/2dr ratchet, M12 soldering iron & M12 batteries. These seem have a short life in the tech's hands, but the heap of M18 gear seems to last the workshop punishment.

Hi Big bear, we run all dewalt with no real problems.
Where did you get your kit from that's a good price, apprentice needs to add a couple of tools to his kit.
We seem to get sharfed down here.

@Blackmac i got it from Tool shed they have a deal to the end of the month, also seen same deal in bunnings. There are a couple other deals might be worth a look with a multi tool and blower, torch etc.
Also dewalt have a couple off redemption deals at the moment

Thanks Big Bear, I did call the toolshed in Timaru but they were bloody dear for 2xcordless planers and more batteries.
I'll give bunnings a try.

Always try and play Mitre10 and Bunnings off against each other on the 15% cheaper that others deal. It can be worth it.

Yeah but Bunnings are a sleazy lot and their claim is mostly hot air. Their claim for the 15% is hollow as a lot of their stuff is excluve to Bunnings, eg Ryobi tools. You won't find it elsewhere.

That's true but they do have some the same so always worth looking online at least to see if they do.

All my stuff is now makita, I use it alot. Love the skill saw, light weight and durable

I've got the same Makita drill as ProudKiwi and it really kicks arse Building my carport my drill had no problems running a 16mmX400mm drillbit through the 250mm posts and 12X2 to put the bolts in. Also got a reciprocating saw, jig saw and angle grinder. Wouldn't mind a skill saw but I have 2 corded ones so not super keen to triple up ( although did that for the recipro since it's so handy doing a bit of pruning in the orchard or as M Duck says, I've use it to split sheep and even cut chops off the legs. Just buffed the paint off the blade first or it leave red paint on the meat).
Makita all the way for me

When I was in the trade I ran Dewalt... bloody heavy and only nicad Batts back then. Got Makita drill through maca49 and now have, the blower,the vac, a tree saw and hedgecutter. I like it.
Most regularly used tool would be the wee vac.

What's the consensus for Stanley fatmax tools (drills / grinder/ circular saw) for basic around the house use -- good or bad

I'm after nothing expensive or heavy duty so looking at a couple of options.
