That would be me... After shooting two deer I once shouldered a 45kg pack to walk home. add in boots and rifle, I was hauling 80% of my own body weight. The equivalent for most blokes would be more like putting 60-70kg on their backs, not many would be keen for that I reckon. Less weight and less pack volume (without breaking the bank too) is a sensible way to stay out there longer and enjoy it more.
"O Great Guru what projectile should I use in my .308?" To which the guru replied, "It doesn't matter."

Another vote for the xmid. Very light, stormworthy and roomy. Ive seen some scarily big spiders in the tussock and for the sake of a couple hundreds grams I leave the inner attached knowing those fuckers can't crawl on me when I'm asleep.
Just wait till a 4-6" long giant weta comes for a visit. You can hear them walking across shingle fan.
75/15/10 black powder matters
If youve seen @kiwijames nose you'd realize that 4-6 inch long giant weta would fit in with room to spare

Took the tarp for a night up to the hot pools (Mangatainoka). Took the tent just in case. Looks like it's a good option.
