    Basic security cameras

I have a friend who is after 2 basic cameras for the front and back oh her new house. Probably needs to be either solar or replaceable batteries
Ideally sending any alerts to her phone.
I have Ring and they’re bloody awesome but rather expensive
So black Friday is coming, any suggestions that won’t break the bank ?
    How about Trail Cams ?
    All guided ance welcome 🤗
    Thanks
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

I tried one of the mid range Spypoint trail cams at my container and despite playing around with the settings, it missed a lot.
Things like I knew my sister was there with her kids, or the old man had popped over to grab something and there'd be no notifications or pictures.

So then I switched to the Arlo WIFI cameras from Bunnings and they've proven good enough.
Decent picture quality, they trigger and send a notification quickly, good battery life.
We set ours up with a base station so even if the power and WIFI are down it will save any video to the base station.

Work colleague has the Mitre10 Mercator ones they work well and I'll be adding a couple to ours but I can get power to them.

Tapo c425 could be a decent option, often under $150 on sale.

No need to pay for a subscription unless you want cloud storage, still get phone notifications and remote access etc.

What they said. I have Tapo c425s and I like them for those same reasons. Easy install. Very reliable, and excellent battery life (rechargeable). Footage saved to microSD card, and/or cloud if you want to pay subscription.

look at range, angle and lighting. remember "el cheapo" may look great for the price but beware.
imagine you have a camera facing a door and the door takes the whole frame.
cheapy crap runs 650 lines on info top to bottom so a persons face may be 80 lines on picture. blow it up for id'ing them and it will look like lego man. so beware low res stuff unless its for very up close. the old analog tv stystem was 625 line and remember all theose really gorgeos women on tv until you saw them in 1080p or 4k. yep well security cameras are like that!
run cable, dont skimp and do it right, i spent years taking useless footage off dvr's that wouldnt absolutely identify anyone in a court of law

Any experience with Tapo C410 Security Cameras ?
Going cheap over here this week and timing is great.
    Battery life?

Also considering Swann Evo 2K Wireless Security Cameras

Fairly happy with my Swann security cameras. They have a rechargeable battery which lasts around 6 months depending on how many times they are activated. Just be aware that these cameras and similar run off WiFi. If you don't have a fast connection, it can be a struggle at times.
