Few new parts and she'll be singing that sweet song again, and injury like that would be certain death for a lesser saw

Yes it is salvageable. But with a dozen other stihls I am in no hurry to fix this one.It will be cheaper to get the parts in overseas than the silly prices we pay here for them.Same with saws for that matter.

When I was in the bush ... twenty plus years ago .... the husky ignition wire was a monthly replacement and the kickback mechanism would vibrate the expensive side cover to bits. After a couple of months we would cut the kick back lever off. Expensive to run.

Had a new saw...provided by a good boss...after the standard few months it began to rattle so cut the kickback mechanism off...a week later...boom.... a massive kickback in the face.

Haven't recommended Husky's since...I hope some of their designs have improved.

This is why Husqvarna gets my vote, milling with the big saw I have to keep an eye on heat at altitude, and every little bit helps.

Why bother it is a work saw, and why should I have to spend time on something that should have been done before it was released?the 201 t is being replaced with a new model this month as it was so shit.

    I've had a Stihl MS 390 for years, 64cc,
I'm not a chainsaw guy, and don't work forestery, so it's neither to big or too small, however wood is our sole source of winter heating.
I clean it up after each use and it fires up and cut's our winters wood each year without complaint.
I would recommend one to anybody that asked.
