Hmmm, there must be a few less rocks up your way, @In2thewild. Sticks don't cut it in Canterbury. If I'm in the bush I just tie back to tree trunks / branches, but I need something for open areas.
Yeah, I've got one of those ones left @RUMPY - pretty good, but they looked a bit expensive to replace! Also take up quite a bit of space if taking enough to do the whole tent... worth carrying a couple as well as some lighter-duty ones, though.
Dunno what @Philipo's pegs look like, sorry @199p.
Thanks again all, I'd better pull finger and order those ones of AliExpress cos I'll be waiting a couple of months for them to get here, no doubt!

Aliexpress are around .80cents ea. so at $1.05 plus post they aren't too badly priced if you want some in a hurry

Now I can tell you a story about "tent pegs"
So a couple of years back, I brought a full set of a dozen DAC orange anodized pegs, I only needed 10 but brought a couple of extras as you can never have enough pegs also they are a thing of beauty & hard to find in NZ nowadays, then off on a fly in trip to the Rua tops with the boys to walk the tops -fly camping & walking out.
Thought we had all our gear sorted for camping / hunting on the tops, but things don't always go th plan aye - Brads brought a tent with dodgey carbon poles that decided to peel apart like an old banana, but he sorted it

However this was nothing on one certain Pootang Muduk called Dave, He decided to bring a one man tent probably more suited to sleeping on a northland beach at New years, it was so cool it came with it's own "star gazing flap" but no worries it had a couple of bits of velcro to keep out the weather & he had like six poxy little bits of looped #8 wire to hold it down in a typical lovely force ten westerly.
So Dave started to worry, even trying to work his way into my little nylon Hilton, That wasn't going to happen so being the generous GC I am, gave him three of my awesome DAC pegs to use bolt down a fly over his "Red Shed" special, I think I might of saved Dave's life that night but what thanks do I get ????

Yes he keep my babies & the boys have been tormenting me worse than a kidnapper sending fingers for the past three years
So the moral of the story is beware of this man
