Yep, got one for driving up and down the country, was a cheap one and miss behaves now and again. Handy to have one that is the same plug as my phone and tablet as it gives a spare cable in the car
I use two first gen GoPro's, front and rear. And and a controller pack from tmall global

aside from coverage in case of accident — and proof (as if you needed it) of classic Kiwi driving… why have a dash cam?
Who knows, it may or may not be happening here already but reports from UK for some time have incidents of cars at intersections where the driver 1, with the right of way, waives driver 2 (without ROW) on, as if in courtesy, then the driver 1 drives speeds up and crashes into the other car with the appearance that driver 2 failed to give way. They must be able to also sue there otherwise it wouldn’t be a worthwhile scam. Of course, driver 2 is on the face of it in the wrong. This scam alone has promoted the use of dash cams over there.
Main use, as already stated is absolute proof of who was culpable in a crash. eg the tourists driving in the middle of the road that we saw recent dash cam footage on TV of. How often do you see newspaper ads of people wanting witnesses to a crash at such and such an intersection. And so on.
Unfortunately, how things are now.
Also had a mate who was threatened recently by a road rager, no crash, just an idiot running back as though he was going to belt my mates car. All caught on my mate's dash cam.
If you've got an iPhone, there's OsmAndDVR App. Free version doesn't allow changing the frame rate, but it's cheaper than buying a stand alone dashcam.
In Russia people will throw themselves in front of a slow moving car and claim damages. (too much time on you tube found that one)
Big Brother now gets the sheep to supply the camera's for him.
Would have had a classic video last time in Wanganui, one way dirt road blind corner and met a truck and trailer doing about 70 k coming towards me! So close! Would have been good on UTube
Boom, cough,cough,cough
saqw some good sights when working for a bee company and would have liked a dash cam in the truck while driving all over the north island
If you own and operate the camera then you could be the one watching "big brother"
Note that police brutality in the states (for an example) has dropped with the amount of cellphone cameras around, esp with the advent of periscope and meerkat that can send videos straight up to youtube instantly
