Thread: Garmin Fenix 5X vs Fenix 3HR

Hey. I have a Garmin Fenix3HR and I find it to be a really good watch. It's a tough watch and I'm often wearing it at work where it can get a hard time as well as using the GPS with the golf function over and above the normal watch features. I have been considering buying the 5X as there are a couple things that I don't like about the 3. The display on the 3 I find too dim in low light is the main issue I have.
I also use the Truflite widget which I find good.
Anyone have the Fenix 5X and do you see there being enough of a difference to justify the extra spend? I just broke the strap on my 3 so I fell down the Garmin hole to upgrade.

I've just upgraded from Fenix 5 to Fenix 6 pro and the above site was pretty useful, i havent used a 3 so cant answer your question re dim display sorry,
The 5 is a awesome watch tho, 5x is just a bit bigger with larger battery

Is your office desk pretty rough on the strap?

I recently went from the Fenix 3HR to the 5X, I did it purely for battery life during Ultramarathons as the 3HR would die after about 11-12 hrs where's the 5X goes 30+hrs. Battery life day to day is about the same.

I think the 5X isn't a great leap over the 3HR, probably not worth the extra, but you can put different watch faces on it which will solve your problem. I noticed while running the 5X senses when you're looking at it and lights up automatically for a few seconds, handy.
