Just bought three for a trip next week.Any body have any experience on battery life ?
Battery life is bloody good if you set the Rino up right and be sensible on the radio use.
I have set mine for 50% back light and screen shuts down after 15secs of inactivity.
Can easily get several days on one charge just like this.
The other thing I have done is bought the car charger, a female adapter and a small 12v 7amp/hr spot battery for overnight charges.
Plug the Rino to the battery via the car charger and in less than an hour your fully charged again.
I've recharged four units over three days like this and never run the battery short yet.
For longer trips a solar panel to recharge the spot light battery during the day is the way to go.
Cheers
Pete
I have the car charger n spare battery pack. Never needed to use it yet.
All the above are spot on. Dont forget to switch it to marine mode. Then the contours on your maps will show up. Oh yeah and ebay is the place to get your road maps for it
Yeah thats got me flucked too mate. @Dead is better
Mine works fine with the topo map card i bought. I think marine is a profile choice under setup? Haven't opened that one so can't say what it does
I cant see how opening up marine mode is going to help show details on a topo land map.
Ty.. Just scored one
They have had the deal going since before Christmas. .. must be getting them dirt cheap from somewhere or else happy to loose mney...
Got to be parallel imported because nobody else coms close in price
I would say that Garmin have got something new coming and want to clear old stock prior to release. And they are using the biggest retailer to do it through. Regardless, its good for the consumer.
I'd say its from Garmin Aussie - they seem to have the 2 for 1 deals every so often
Such a good deal
I just installed Topo maps from LINZ on mine - so easy (and free)
Gibbo maps worked for me and free !
;)
Mmmmmmmm does her indoors read this
You can scroll the modes under settings - you can chose to have it on a tramping, driving etc but the only one i could find that brought the contour lines up was the marine mode. I'm still learning how to mark waypoints and then check distances between them. I reckon that would be a useful trick eh
Johnnyappletree in Australia were selling them 2 for 1. I'd say HuntFish just bought a pallet or 2 of them knowing they'd sell like hot cakes
Thanks @P38 - I think I just worked out the linz stuff. Next question - where does one acquire a blue map?
Marine Topo like on my fish finder http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/26/2uqugu2y.jpg
Fish need maps??????
@Munsey what sea charts do you run on your garmin?

Any one keen to try?
Those with maps can you take a pic or screen shot of what they look like.
I have map toaster and hoping that the 650 shows some more shadows etc on the contours
You can switch the contour shading on/off on most models Spanners. With it set to on, my 62s running freshmaps looks very dark, so I switch it off anyway
I can't remember what my other one is.. Hcx or something and it looks very flat with the map toaster maps in it ( just like pics on their site )
If seen others with a shadow as such that I've it more if a true Topo map look
bit strange i can get the linz topo maps working on the internal memory card but not my 8gb external one? @P38
Put the LINZ maps into a folder called "Garmin" on your microsd card
It will now be seen as a custom map.
You will have to select the map you want in the menu.
Can't remember where to look for this at this stage.
It may also autoload.
And put a screen protector on your Rino before it's too late
Cheers
