From what I can tell they are bloody good, and specially so at 69 bucks. They will not work in conjuction wioth any other mapping software such as freshmap though, so if if you want to use them in conjunction with your PC, you need to have Garmin trip & waypoint manager/basecamp downloaded already.

There are methods to get the Garmin v4 maps for Aus and NZ for significantly cheaper. Works a mint with my Rino.

    So first impressions
Fresh loads faster, has more detail when zoomed (same settings)
Mr purple feels a tiny tiny but slower and has less topo lines but is clearer and easy to read.

I feel I get a better idea of how steep a hill is with the freshmaps.

you can have both maps loaded on the gps at the same time and choose between the two "on the fly"

I thought the mr p maps were copies of Linz and therefore would have standard 20mtr contour lines the same as freshmap.

    Timmay

    I think so.

My mate has midland radios and we have no trouble sending and receiving as long as we use the same channels.

    Cheers
